Our Kannawidan Adventure

Image
The Kannawidan Festival is more than just a celebration, it's to show appreciation to the rich cultural heritage and the spirit of community that our province, Ilocos Sur, has had. It's a chance for people to reconnect with their roots, showcase their talents, and share their traditions with the world. https:/www.jhamaicamaeramos.com We spent the day exploring the long trade fair. From intricately woven baskets to handcrafted ceramics, each stall told a story of dedication and artistry. We tried the delicious offerings from different municipalities, each dish is a unique representation of their culinary heritage.  Other than the the food and crafts, the festival was into the vibrant cultural tapestry of our province.   The Kannawidan Festival is more than just an event; it's a celebration of life, a celebration of community, and a celebration of the unique spirit of Ilocos Sur. It's a reminder that even in the face of rapid change, the traditions and values that keeps...

Beyond the Hearts and Chocolates

Originally, Valentine's Day was celebrated to honor Saint Valentine, a Christian martyr. The word "Valentine" itself was named after Saint Valentine, a Roman clergyman who was martyred for secretly marrying couples to spare their husbands from war. This act of defiance and love became the foundation of the holiday, a tradition built on defying societal norms to prioritize love and commitment. But the commercialized version of Valentine's Day? That's a different story. I spent the day hiding to any apps, dodging some posts about Valentine's. I pretended it was just another day, but it wasn't. Everyone else seemed to be celebrating love, and I felt like I was watching a movie I wasn't interested to.   But then, something opened my mind. My sadness wasn't about romantic love; it was about feeling disconnected. I'd forgotten to appreciate all the love already in my life.   That's when I realized, love isn't just grand gestures. It...

A Team’s effort for a feat

Image
https://www.jhamaicamaeramos.com Together with my group-mates, we started off by appointing two parts of the research to each of us members. After that, we discussed each part of the CBR to avoid misunderstanding.  https://www.jhamaicamaeramos.com We collected needed or important datas only from reliable sources. We also started early and finished early. https://www.jhamaicamaeramos.com We then arranged the collected datas. Our team had finished each others’ activities subsequently, we can start creating our web design earlier than the other groups. https://www.jhamaicamaeramos.com The appointed tasks to every member remained the same when we created the when design.  https://www.jhamaicamaeramos.com We finalized, combined each part and added animations, styles or effects like the CSS on our Web design. We presented our Web design as a team. Despite the pressure we felt, we presented the task that we have worked for.

My goal to Improve

This quarter was about HTML Lists, frames and creating a Web design for a Community-Based Research. HTML Lists looks really simple, however, there are really complicated parts when dealing with many combinations of Nested-lists and its impact on the layout. I discovered the important role of proper tags—one misplaced or forgotten end tags could ruin the whole thing. Frames is another challenge. Understand how to divide webpages into one sections and combine contents across them needs time and effort. Last but not the least, Community-Based Research (CBR) thought me the parts of a simple research and the importance of community respect and discovery. https://www.jhamaicamaeramos.com https://www.jhamaicamaeramos.com Along the data way, while learning, there are times when I would encounter challenges. In HTML Lists, it turned out so easy for me but in combining multi OLs and ULs gave me stress. I did trial and errors to fix any mistakes or problems in my coding. With frames, I used ...

Connecting different countries–through Cultures

Image
Have you ever wonder why do us Filipinos also celebrate the Chinese New Year? Aside from getting to eat delicious food we also get to see the fascinating history, and culture of China. A long time ago, when trading connects other countries, Philippines and China has had a long complex relationship hundreds of of years ago. Chinese traders have influenced filipino culture in many ways, including foods, language and even beliefs. This means that the cultures of China, including Chinese New Year have influenced us. According to various historical accounts and anthropological studies, the significant influx of Chinese immigrants to the Philippines, particularly during the spanish colonial era, played an important role in the adoption of CNY celebrations. They brought their traditions with them, and over time, these traditions were adopted by Filipinos. Based from these historical accounts, the integration wasn’t forced but rather became a natural process of cultural exchange. A lot Fi...
